Adolescent Suicide Prevention Conference
May 17 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in teens (13-19 years old) in the United States. Many more survive suicide attempts. Although the majority of adolescents who attempt suicide have a significant mental health disorder, there is no single factor that causes suicide or suicidal thoughts.
The keynote presentation will address suicide risk factors, identification of youth at risk for suicide, prevention, intervention, and postvention strategies. The presentation will help participants increase their confidence in their ability to help adolescents contemplating suicide. The conference is hybrid.
A boxed lunch will be provided for all in-person attendees. There also is a virtual option. For WEB based attendees, the link will be sent 48 hours before the conference.
The Conference will be held in the WCU SECC Building in room 112. All participants are to park in the Commons Parking Garage. A map of the campus and parking information will be sent via email 48 hours before the conference.
